About Sunfaded

Our Story

Sunfaded started as a feeling.

Back in high school, getting away from the noise of everyday life — even the small things that felt bigger than they probably were — became a much-needed reset. I found that reset at the beach. The breeze. The salt air. The sand underfoot. The sound of waves rolling onto shore. There was something about being near the water that made life feel lighter.

But that feeling started long before high school.

As a kid, some of my best memories were made on the beaches of north and central Florida. Our family vacations were simple, but they were everything. We would spend hours in the water body surfing, looking for shells, digging holes in the sand just to watch them fill up with water, and hoping to catch some tiny fish before the tide came back in and carried it away. We would run back to the blanket just long enough to grab a snack my parents packed, then head straight back into the water.

One year, my dad rented a pop-up trailer and we pulled it behind our Ford Country Squire station wagon to a campground near A1A. There was no air conditioning, no TV, no big refrigerator full of food. Just a small trailer, the sound of the ocean, and the breeze blowing through the unzipped screened openings on each side of the pop-up.

We would wake up to the waves, gather our toiletries, walk to the campground bathroom to shower and brush our teeth, then come back for a simple breakfast before heading out to the beach for the day. Nothing about it was fancy. That was the best part.

As I got older, the beach became less of a vacation and more of a way of life. We moved closer to the coast, and weekends were spent body boarding, fishing off the pier, watching storms roll offshore, and getting my first taste of surfing on the beaches of St. Augustine, Flagler, Ormond, and Daytona.

Back then, Hawaiian Tropic and Ron Jon were everywhere, and I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the latest OP, T&C, or Gotcha t-shirt. Those shirts always felt better than the others. Softer. Easier. Like they belonged to the sun, the salt, and the day you had just lived. There was something about putting one on over sunburned shoulders that felt like part of the whole experience.

Life changed, of course. We moved again. Trends changed. Responsibilities got bigger. The carefree parts of life became harder to hold onto. But I never forgot the way I felt near the coast.

Years later, I realized the feeling I was trying to recapture was still there. It was never tied to one exact beach or one specific place. It came from the ingredients: salty air, sand between your toes, the sound of waves, the warmth of the sun, and comfortable gear that felt like it had already lived a few good days with you.

That is why Sunfaded was created.

Sunfaded is built around the easygoing spirit of coastal life — the kind shaped by sun, salt, surf, fishing, boating, open water, and simple days outside. Our designs are inspired by the moments that make people feel pulled toward the coast: early mornings at the ramp, long afternoons offshore, quiet walks on the beach, waves rolling in, storms out at sea, and the feeling of not needing much more than good weather, good company, and somewhere near the water.

Sunfaded is for the early risers, boat-day regulars, beach wanderers, wave watchers, weekend fishermen, and anyone who feels better with the sun on their face and salt in the air.

Every piece is designed to feel relaxed, familiar, and lived-in — like something you picked up on a perfect day by the water and kept for years.

Because even when you can’t get to the coast, the feeling can still come with you.

Sunfaded is a coastal state of mind.
